Frequently Asked Questions

In the time we’ve been running our used appliance store and catering to residents in Gwinnett County, DeKalb County, and Fulton County respectively, a lot of folks have asked us questions through email, phone, and other channels and platforms. This page will clear these questions up and help you make the most informed decision as you’re shopping around the area and doing your own price comparisons.

What areas do we service?

We proudly serve Suwanee, Gwinnett County, Fulton County, and DeKalb County. We’re not just a store; we’re your local appliance solution.

What is your price range for the stuff you sell?

Our used washer and dryers start at $200 and go up to $400 for each depending on the brand, condition, and other factors.

Our used refrigerator inventory starts at around $350 to $700. The small refrigerators we always price on the cheaper end, and the larger stainless steel ones are priced higher. We have a variety of different kinds of refrigerators from side by side to top and bottom.

Stoves & ovens are from $250 to $300 a piece, and there are usually both gas and electric ones we try to have in stock.

Open box and new items are going to be the most expensive inventory we sell, but we try to offer them at big discounts. Same with scratch & dent inventory. Prices are negotiable for those.

Occasionally we get microwaves in our inventory and price them at around $100 or so, making them some of the cheapest inventory we have to offer when available.

And we’re constantly trying to seek better inventory as we keep selling more products and spreading the word about our business in the Atlanta area. Every bit helps if you enjoy the service that you receive at our store. Feel free to leave a review on our Google My Business page if you’re satisfied and if you have any issues, please notify us ASAP so we can help fix it and figure out a solution. Thank you! Every bit of support helps our small business grow and get better. We want to be your one stop shop for your appliance needs and we’d love to have more scratch & dent and open box items in stock moving forward.

What are your current delivery & installation rates?

We’ve played around with pricing structure before, and based on our experience, here are our current rates so there are no surprises when you come into the store or make an appointment for one of our services.

  • Delivery charge – $50 flat rate
  • Installation – $50 – $100 depending on appliance type, time and labor involved in installation, number of stairs etc.

Same day delivery is also available at no additional charge. Just let us know after you pay when you’d like us to make the delivery. It helps to fill this form out to let us know more about your residence we will be delivering to. Select the Appliance Delivery Appointments option, like in this screenshot:

These help cover the cost of gasoline and time spent hauling your order and installing it professionally as well as the costs of our drivers and helpers.

We have promotions every so often but these are our general rates. Subject to change.

Are you an appliance parts store or supplier?

Not primarily. Occasionally we do have a small selection of parts that we sell, but there are no guarantees we have what you’re looking for in stock. There are other outlets in the area that would be better suited if you want to buy a large quantity of original appliance parts from the manufacturers. We even buy from those outlets ourselves and highly recommend them!

Fox Appliance Parts and Encompass are two of the big ones that come to mind who have really helped us out as a small business. Of course, eBay and Amazon are always great if you’re looking for those kind of appliance part deals. You can search by manufacturer and serial number and find exactly what you need. Sears Parts Direct is another solid resource in this matter.

We highly recommend the above companies if you’re a DIYer and want to fix your own appliances.

Early on, we’d get so many calls from people asking us this very question so here it is clarified for the record.

Our business is primarily focused on the used appliance, open box appliance, and scratch & dent territories as well as liquidation, and recently expanding our appliance repair options for customers too. Our goal is to offer an alternative to buying appliances from huge retail stores so you can get better deals and support. That’s why we emphasize the fact that we cater to both English and Spanish speaking customers, but we have a diverse range of people who want to buy from us each and every day. Even many appliance stores that look like mom and pop operations are really chains operated by huge national companies, so do your best due dilligence to make sure that you really are buying local if that’s what you want.

What payment methods are accepted?

All receipts are created as invoices and sent to our customers and then we have a variety of options for them to pay in store. We accept debit card, credit card (all major networks like Discover, VISA, Mastercard, etc., cash, and Zelle (781-656-3475 is where those payments can be made, if you live far away from our store this is a payment option available, along with credit/debit card via invoice & email) to name a few. Checks are also acceptable as long as they are from a major reputable bank (Bank of America, Wells Fargo, PNC, etc.) or credit union.

Invoices are due upon receipt, so be prepared with your payment method. We won’t deliver or install anything until we are paid first!

Now you can also pay your invoice online with credit card or ACH through Stripe. Check out our new Inventory Shop where if you live outside of our service area, you can also order our best open box & new appliances we sometimes get. First come, first served, so act fast before what you want gets sold.

Why choose Suwanee Appliance Garage?

As a family-operated business deeply rooted in the Metro Atlanta community, we offer you not only the best value but also personalized, top-tier services.

Our rates are competitive, and our reputation is built on providing the most value possible back to the community. We know what it was like first hand to not always be able to purchase the fanciest new appliance, so that’s one of many reasons why we do what we do.

Plus, we have had a lot of experience on the logistics side of the equation and know first hand the kinds of appliances people buy new, but then return for many reasons.

What types of appliances do we offer?

We offer a broad range of appliances, from brand new and open box to gently used. We also service appliances that don’t work anymore to replace the culprit part and get it back in working order. If the appliance is too old or not worth pouring money into, we’ll haul it away and dispose of it safely.

Our inventory includes refrigerators, washers, dryers, ovens, and much more, sourced from trusted brands like LG, Samsung, Whirlpool, Frigidaire, Maytag and Kenmore.

Why are you called Suwanee Appliance Garage if your main location is in Doraville?

This is the name we chose when we were operating out of Suwanee, GA for the first few months. But unfortunately, due to some unforeseen events, the warehouse that we operated from is no more, so we had to look for another physical location to set up shop again.

We didn’t want to confuse people with sudden name changes and had already developed the website and everything, even registering with Georgia’s Corporations Division and getting incorporated. It would have been easy to find another name, but in the end, the name stuck and it’s been working out well.

This was easier said than done to find for a while, but turned out to be a blessing in disguise. We continued to get calls from people who wanted to buy for at least half a year and that convinced us to give this another go. Like we have discussed on our blog, it was not an easy process and there are still many things we are learning ourselves.

Our current area is right between Gwinnett, Fulton, and DeKalb and it’s easier for us to travel to more of these areas all at once. Norcross is right next to us, Peachtree Corners is to the west, and Mechanicsville and I-285 aren’t too far either. It makes things very convenient for us as a business.

Currently we do source appliances from areas like Winder, but ideally we’d like to open up another warehouse long-term and hopefully it would be in Suwanee once again!

How do we maintain service quality?

Our commitment to service quality is uncompromising. You’ll be informed about the total cost of repair in advance, and no additional work will be done without your express approval. We want to be as transparent as we can and be open to communication whether it be email, appointment scheduling or by phone by one of our staff members.

It’s a challenge as a small business to address everyone’s concerns and we’ve made mistakes ourselves in the past and have done our best to learn from them. We encourage you to be patient as we continue to work on making the customer service at our store the best it can possibly be. We are human and if there’s a problem, please let us know ASAP. If we are unavailable at the moment, we try to get back to our customers within a few hours.

Can I sell my appliance to Suwanee Appliance Garage?

Absolutely! We accept major brands in great condition. You’ll receive a fair, accurate valuation based on detailed inspection, and our offers are transparent and obligation-free. It would help us a lot too if the appliance you want to sell was also clean to make it easier to sell to someone who might need it. Check out our Appliance Liquidation page or our About Us page for more details.

What preventative measures do we recommend?

Regular maintenance can prolong the life of your appliances and save you money long-term. We can assist in scheduling this maintenance and diagnosing the issue for you. Then we can provide an idea of whether the appliance is worth keeping for the time being and is fixable or if it’s time for a replacement.

In general, it comes to down to how often you clean your appliance. Refrigerators we advise you clean them out on a weekly basis. Stoves and ovens should also be cleaned regularly and inspected every year to make sure there’s no corrosion anywhere that could land on your food. Microwaves should be wiped down weekly with detergent to remove gunk and residue that could stick and cause problems later on. Also be very careful that your microwave doesn’t develop any large holes in them.

Washing machines you should clean every month to remove lint buildup and other bits of grime that could get stuck, and the same with your dryer. For any appliance, used, new or scratch and dent, we always recommend following the manufacturer’s maintenance schedule and owners manual. If you must replace any parts, we also always recommend trying to find original OEM parts that were designed for the specific model and serial number of the appliance you have. Sometimes it’s easier said than done to find those parts at a low price, but trust us. It’s worth it if you can. Those OEM parts will generally last a lot longer than going with an off brand or knock off.

If you have any problems or there’s something you want to check but need professional help, give us a call. We have techs ready to diagnose the issue, find the replacement parts for you and install them, and give you a free quote on the repair costs. Otherwise, we want you to be able to keep your appliances for years to come and hopefully these tips will help you immensely.
